HP-BSM RTSM Modeling Studio (Query does not exist)

02.10.14 (Business Service Management)

If youn want to acces the Modeling Studio, there is a message poping up “Query does not exist”. THis message indicates that a Query and/or Link does not work anymore. To Solve the Problem please follow these steps:

1.The exception revealed the TQL name, ‘Alle HostsAlle Hosts’.

2. From RTSM DB schema, go to ‘TQL_QUERY_’1 table. Extract its CMDB_ID value from the CMDB_ID column with query:  select * from CDM_TQL_QUERY_1 where A_DISPLAY_LABEL =’Alle HostsAlle Hosts’

3. From RTSM jmx console:  3.1. Access http://localhost:21212/jmx-console/HtmlAdaptor?action=inspectMBean&name=UCMDB:service=Model Services  3.2. Check if TQL’s CMDB_ID is valid by invoking “retrieveObjectProperties”  3.3. After (3.2.) validation, invoke the “removeCMDBObject”

4. Now the TQL should have been deleted. Check in RTSM DB

5. In jmx-console under the UCMDB section go to: “UCMDB:service=Folders Services” and run the following :                             – connectOrphansFoldersToRoot                             – connectOrphansResourcesToRoot

6. Use “Customer ID”=1

7. Check if Modeling Studio is accessible

8. If still issu there, the other workaround is to redeploy the sitescope package as “Alle HostsAlle Hosts” is an enrichment from Sitescope.zip package.

9. The enrichment is based on the TQL with the same name. The TQL is creating the problem. This enrichment removes the application-host link and creates application-software element link.

10. Let us know the output.

HP Application Performance Management (APM) 360 Bundle

06.05.14 (Business Service Management)

What is it

The HP Application Performance Management (APM) is a suite of software products that enable the customer to proactively monitor their applications across the entire infrastructure.  It gives them insight into every transaction, and the ability to resolve issues quickly.  They can report application performance based on end-user experience and business metrics.  And because APM integrates with pre-production, they have a common tool set to communicate between development and operations to reduce costs.

The APM 360 Bundle combines multiple parts of the APM software suite to enable easier ordering — a single SKU that is low cost, high value for the customer – and allows them to get the benefits of APM in their environment quickly

This bundle is to encourage the selling of HP’s Application Performance Management as a whole solution.

What’s included in the Bundle

The HP BAC App Mgmt AppInst 360 license bundles the unlimited use of the following four APM data collectors:

  • Business Process Monitor (BPM) – Which utilizes synthetic transactions to identify issues before end-users find them
  • Real User Monitor – (RUM) Provides complete visibility into the experience and behavior of end-users
  • Diagnostics – Drills down deep into transactions across the entire system, from the end-user to the mainframe backend.
  • Service Level Management (SLM) – A dashboard that tracks and reports applications and service SLA’s in business terms, according to business objectives.

Service-based IT Cost Modeling and Identifying Cost Saving Opportunities

06.05.14 (Business Service Management)

 Introduction

Responsible service provision requires an appropriate balance between quality and cost. But this balance cannot be achieved without a clear understanding of the service costs and the relationship between cost and service levels. With this knowledge comes the power to make decisions on where and how to spend to reach the desired balance.

This whitepaper describes a consistent approach outlining how to:

 create a cost model for a service and thereby

 understand what contributes to costs

 provide levers and/or options for the business to control costs within acceptable service levels.

The major activities in this approach are:

 1. Identify target services

2. Define service levels

3. Calculate service costs

4. Identify cost saving opportunities

5. Review with the customer

6. Create and execute plans to optimize cost

Now:

per your information QTP is installed under

“C:\Program Files (x86)\HP\QuickTest Professional\bin\QTPro.exe

per workspace\agent1\Site1\APPLICTION_NAME_6f0dd3cecc40b9ddfcf517809b559d53\36\a_APPLICTION_NAME_Script_Name\res\cmdline.txt it uses this path to execute the script

“C:\Program Files (x86)\HP\QuickTest Professional\bin\mdrv.exe” -usr “C:\ProgramData\HP\BPM\workspace\agent1\Site1\APPLICTION_NAME_6f0dd3cecc40b9ddfcf517809b559d53\36\a_APPLICTION_NAME_Script_Name\a_APPLICTION_NAME_Script_Name.usr” -out

However, agent.txt reports

07/03/2013 11:04:12 WARNING detecting that QuickTest Professional is installed, however PATH of data server could not be updated, therefore some scripts might fail to run: cannot update value of PATH

So please perform the following steps:

- stop BPM

- rename / delete the workspace folder

- start BPM

- wait until the script is executed once

- login as user who is able to execute the script via QTP (what is the name of this use account?)

- modify the file

workspace\agent1\Site1\APPLICTION_NAME_6f0dd3cecc40b9ddfcf517809b559d53\36\a_APPLICTION_NAME_Script_Name\default.cfg

so that it shows

[Log]

LogOptions=LogExtended

MsgClassData=0

MsgClassParameters=0

MsgClassFull=0

- execute the script from the commands line via

“C:\Program Files (x86)\HP\QuickTest Professional\bin\mdrv.exe” -usr “C:\ProgramData\HP\BPM\workspace\agent1\Site1\APPLICTION_NAME_6f0dd3cecc40b9ddfcf517809b559d53\36\a_APPLICTION_NAME_Script_Name\a_APPLICTION_NAME_Script_Name.usr” -out “C:\ProgramData\HP\BPM\workspace\agent1\Site1\APPLICTION_NAME_6f0dd3cecc40b9ddfcf517809b559d53\36\a_APPLICTION_NAME_Script_Name\res” -drv_log_file “C:\ProgramData\HP\BPM\workspace\agent1\Site1\APPLICTION_NAME_6f0dd3cecc40b9ddfcf517809b559d53\36\a_APPLICTION_NAME_Script_Name\res\mdrv_qtp_cmdline.log”

- execute the script from the command line, now using BPM’s mdrv.exe

“<path to BPM’s mdrv.exe>\mdrv.exe” -usr “C:\ProgramData\HP\BPM\workspace\agent1\Site1\APPLICTION_NAME_6f0dd3cecc40b9ddfcf517809b559d53\36\a_APPLICTION_NAME_Script_Name\a_APPLICTION_NAME_Script_Name.usr” -out “C:\ProgramData\HP\BPM\workspace\agent1\Site1\APPLICTION_NAME_6f0dd3cecc40b9ddfcf517809b559d53\36\a_APPLICTION_NAME_Script_Name\res” -drv_log_file “C:\ProgramData\HP\BPM\workspace\agent1\Site1\APPLICTION_NAME_6f0dd3cecc40b9ddfcf517809b559d53\36\a_APPLICTION_NAME_Script_Name\res\mdrv_mdrv_cmdline.log”

please save the output of the command window, if there is any.

- are you running BPM under the user account from above?

If not, please change the settings and give it another try

- if this doesn’t work, stop BPM and run it from the command line as the user from above via

- run <bpm_home>\launch_service\bin\magentproc.exe

you would need to add the process to StartUp group or restart manually after a reboot of BPM machine.

- to stop BPM kill all BPM processes starting from nanny.exe.

Requirements HP BPM with QTP (HP BSM)

16.03.13 (Business Service Management)

After a long investigation we finally were successful.

As prerequisite you do ned the following:

- Disable UAC

- Disable IE ESC

- If you use a network Share, you need to add the UNC path for this share and the loop back address to the IE Security Trusted sites.

- Disable DEP

Than it runs stable.

Have fun.
